To change my last name or not....

So, I've been thinking really hard about if I should change my last name or not when I get married. Part of me would be a little sad to not be referred as Michelle Lindsay any more. I mean EVERYONE calls me by my first and last name...hello I have two first names. Ha!
Another side of me though wants our family to be on ONE card when we travel abroad. Especially when we have babies.  Plus, I want to have the same last name as our kids.

The good thing is that Robert's last name is "Loomis" (Robert James Loomis) so I'd still get to keep my initials "ML."  I just did a little google search and found out all the things I need to change...social security card, license, passport, bank accounts, credit cards, job, voting, utilities etc. Full list is here. I told Robert that if I change my name that he has to come with me to go to all the places to change my name. I mean if I have to stand in line at the DMV he should too right?? :) Who knows...I have 13 days to figure that one out.  xoxo ML

Ring Shopping

Yesterday we went by our friends vintage shop to get a few stackable gold and rose gold rings for me for our big day.

Robert got my shiny diamond ring from there as well. The silver band was given to us by our friend Anna Sheffield.

Today we went to Cartier to get Robert his ring. We trekked all the way up town in the sleet to get it!!

Now, I know what you're thinking....where's your Cartier ring ML. Never fear Cartier is here!! I'm getting a matching ring like Robert's but in rose gold and with diamonds all the way around. They don't have my size in the US so they have to order it from Paris hence the reason why I got stackable rings yesterday. Actually, I'm going to Paris in January....I might just get it then. No tax!!

I'm really excited about our rings. It's exactly what I wanted which is a stackable moment and my ring to match Robert's ring. Yeah!! 1 week 6 days to the big day. Xoxoxo ML

Tie the Knot

My friend Andee is always coming to work in something cute as apposed to me who rocks a lulu lemon outfit daily. Andee's outfits consist of vintage pieces, tall shoes and something that exsentuates her perfect figure. Today she rocked and over sized thrift store dress and tied a knot in the middle to make a little more fitted. I loved this chic idea and can't wait to try it out myself.

Visual Person

I had to make a little diagram so I could do our seat chart. I wrote everyone's name on a little sticky and started placing people places. I put my single friend by a cute boy. Who's a match maker at her own wedding. Ha!!!

Seat Assignment

I'm slightly obsessed with @theknot wedding website. It's so helpful with giving information to our guest about the wedding and having people RSVP. Now I'm on to seat arrangement. DUDE..it's so visual and since everyone RSVP to the site it already has everyone's name in there so I just drag the person's name (which they have a list conveniently on the side) and put them at a table. Amazing! This way we won't forget anyone. YEAH!!

Clarks- OBSESSED

I know this isn't really about my wedding but I had to share...I went to a Clark's preview at the beginning of summer and they gave me these Desert Boot shoes. At first I wasn't sure if they would be good for me PLUS it was the middle of summer and way to HOT to be sporting boots. Fast forward two months and drop the temp by 20 degrees and we're in Fall. I decided one day..you know I'm going to wear these and since then I HAVEN'T TAKEN THEM OFF. It's kind of a joke now when I wake up in the morning I'm like...what can I wear with my Clark's Desert Boot.
Wild looking dress with purple lace bra and my Clarks.

Orange cotton dress with my Clarks. (PS- They are GREAT for bike riding)
Short black mini skirt with cotton top and my Clarks
Volcom camo pants with my Clarks

You too can own your very own pair here. I really want to get another pair but I'm going to see how long these last. LOVE!

Bridesmaid Shoes

What do we think about these for bridesmaid shoes? They're Elizabeth and James.

I love them!!

Chanel- Nails

I'm OBSESSED with Chanel nail polish. It's the BEST. It stays on the longest, the colors are rich and unique and it's just chic. I was over at Whitney's desk today (she's an editor at Paper Magazine) and she got a little Chanel make up goodie bag that I of course had to go through. I found this FABULOUS color 531 Peridot. It's amazing! I also like 513 Black Pearl. You can purchase them here
Enjoy!

All in a year!

One year ago today Robert proposed to me! I can't believe how time FLIES by. One month front today we're getting hitched. I can't wait. I have to say so many emotions have gone through me. From happy to scared to excited to unsure to knowing to being on top of the world. Getting married is a BIG thing for me....for us. Every person on my dad's side of the family has been divorced at least once. Some more times then I'd like to mention. I NEVER want to get divorced that's why I waited so long. I'm excited for the adventure we're going to take together. I mean if the next 60 years are anything like the last 4.5 I'm in for the adventure of a life time. Xoxxo ML

Cheesy Vows

Ok...not trying to be a hater here...BUT some of these vows people say at their weddings makes me want to laugh and vomit at the same time. I know that's so bad and to each their own..for sure BUT seriously...how do they say these things with a straight face. Here's an example of what I'm talking about. I've made a few comments in all CAPS.

Groom

In your eyes, I have found my home.
In your heart, I have found my love.
In your soul, I have found my mate.
With you, I am whole, full, alive.
You make me laugh. You let me cry. (LET YOU CRY? A TRUE MAN CAN CRY.)
You are my breath, my every heartbeat. (I'M DYING HERE)

I am yours. (NOT SURE I WANT YOU NOW)

You are mine.
Of this we are certain.
You are lodged in my heart. (THAT DOESN'T SOUND FUN.)
The small key is lost. (OOOOHHHH...OOOHHHH)
You must stay there forever. (THIS SOUNDS A BIT FORCED DON'T YOU THINK?)

I just have to say if Robert said ANY of the above vow I don't know how I could take him serious. Is that bad? Below is one I found that was really heart felt. I like it.

Groom
I love you for your beauty, your intelligence, your kindness...and for the way you always know how to make me feel so special. So on top of all the other vows that I will make to you on our wedding day, I also vow to always appreciate how lucky I am to have someone who makes me feel the way you do and to continue to try as hard as I can to make you feel as special as you make me feel, forever and ever.

Bride
You have been my best friend, mentor, playmate, confidant, and my greatest challenge. But most importantly, you are the love of my life and you make me happier than I could ever imagine and more loved than I ever thought possible.... You have made me a better person as our love for one another is reflected in the way I live my life. So I am truly blessed to be a part of your life, which as of today becomes our life together.

As much as I would LOVE to write my own vows there is no way that Robert and I can physically say them. We both would be a ball of tears and not be able to get through them. HA! We're working with his dad, who's marrying us, on the simple vows we need to repeat. Fun times!!

Macy's Home Ware

Yesterday I went to Macy's to return something and DUDE their home ware section is PURE HEAVEN!! I wondered why the hell I even bothered with Bed, Bath & Beyond or Sur La Table. I mean they had EVERYTHING. Check out the Martha Stewart section...so cute right! I may not have a lot of room in my NYC apt BUT it's going to be stalked with super cute and chic stuff!! YEAH Macy's!

Chalk Blocks

I am TOTALLY making these...Robert has a power saw and the chalk board paint. I'm going to put ML+RJ. LOVE!! I'll let you know how it goes.

Straw Time

I got a call from my wedding planner today asking me what I thought of these straws for the Root Beer floats I'm serving at my wedding...cute right! I took a deep breath and just thanked God that I have a wedding planner. MAN...I wouldn't not be able to think about straws right now. HA!
While I was looking I found these "photo booth" props. SO CUTE right!! They are $20...do I order these OR do I make them myself...I say I order them. LOVE!
